A New Level of Safety

For everyone in our community, Families and Kid Experts, communication and setting expectation on both sides is key to helping everyone get on the same page and feel comfortable. See what families and babysitters are doing to mitigate risk and ensure safety and security when booking babysitting sessions.

Review the CDC’s guidelines on recent updates, best practices, tips and tools. Knowledge is power and staying up to date via the experts empowers you to make the best decisions.

Also take a moment to check out your area’s individual Covid 19 updates and guidelines as every location experiences this situation differently and advises their communities accordingly:

California

Per CDC guidelines, Families and Kid Experts should refrain from booking or cancel any bookings if you:

  • are experiencing symptoms of Covid 19
  • have been in contact in the last 14-days with someone diagnosed with COVID-19

Communication is everything:

When connecting, both Families and Kid Experts should message to share details and ask questions to establish trust and safety during this time. This typically includes sharing notes on social distancing. For reference:

Families have been asking the following questions:

– Have you been exposed to the Covid-19 or been around anyone who has been exposed and if so when?

– Have you been practicing social distancing and for how long? What does this include?

How many people have you generally been in contact with?

Kid Experts have been asking:

– Have you or your family been exposed to the Covid-19 or anyone who has been exposed and if so when?

– Have you and your family been practicing social distancing and for how long? What does this include?

– How many people have you or your family generally been in contact with?

Sharing expectations for disinfecting

Once a family and Kid Expert have confirmed they usually message to share their preference for maintaining safety (i.e. “we have Purell by the door that we ask that you use when you arrive and also Lysol wipes that you wipe down the knob with, and that you remove your shoes and bags by the door. Last head to the kitchen to wash your hands to be extra cautious”)

Talking to kids about Covid 19

The physical safety of everyone in our community is paramount in our current situation, but the mental health of everyone, especially our minis, is just as important. We encourage Families and Kid Experts to chat about how the subject at hand has been addressed to stay on the same page. Share and ask about what kiddos know, the verbiage used, what if anything should be discussed and what should be avoided. These little details amount to a big impact during interaction.

It’s about our global community now

For everyone in our individual communities, communication is key to setting expectations and feeling comfortable. Most importantly though, we are all a member of a larger community. It’s on all of us to coordinate, communicate and make decisions that promote the safety of those in our smaller circle and the entire global community as a whole. Now more than ever is a time to work together, even 6 feet apart.
