Parents, do you feel the chill in the air? Halloween is almost here! The spooky season is the perfect time to put those DIY skills to the test. Keep your little goblins and ghouls busy and having fun with these Halloween activities that are easy, simple, and fun!

 

 

 

Spooky Spider Wreaths

This quick and easy project will have kids practicing their hand-eye coordination while making creepy cute Halloween decor! 

Materials needed:

  • Paper plates
  • Yarn
  • Plastic spiders or bugs (spider rings work great!) 
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors 
  • Hole punch
  1. Cut the inside out of a paper plate and punch holes around the edges.
  2. Help kiddos thread and weave yarn through the holes, creating a spider web.
  3. Stick on plastic spiders and googly eyes to your little ghoul’s content.
  4. Hang up your spooky spider wreath on a door or window!

Ooey Gooey Halloween Slime 

Step up your slime game with monstrous mix-ins for the season. Use our simple slime recipe, then add Halloween themed ingredients for some spooky sensory fun! 

Mix in ideas: 

  • Mix in green food coloring, a little bit of glitter, and plastic creepy crawlies (spiders and other bugs!), then put in a cauldron to craft your own Witches’ Brew.
  • After carving a jack-o-lantern, don’t throw away those pumpkin insides just yet! Add orange food coloring and pumpkin guts (seeds and all) into your slime to make your 
  • Have your kiddos dream up a scary imaginary monster, then make a slime that matches it. Mix in food coloring and googly eyes to make your slime look like a melted monster! 

Custom Trick-or-Treat Totes

Ditch the plain pillowcase or plastic pumpkin bucket and help your kiddo create a trick-or-treat bag that matches their costume. Recycle an old tote bag, reusable grocery bag, or even an old pillowcase, to 

Here are some ideas for creating a creepy custom trick-or-treat tote!

  • Color or dye a tote to match your kiddo’s costume! Dressing as a superhero? Draw the superhero logo onto the front of the bag. 
  • Personalize your child’s tote with their name in spooky handwriting, letting everyone know that the candy inside is all theirs!
  • Draw or trace a fun halloween design on the front of the tote, then have your child color it in using marker.

Perfect Paper Pumpkins

Create adorable mini pumpkins using only paper and glue! These little pumpkins make the perfect Halloween decor for around the house. 

 

Materials needed:

  • Paper (preferably orange, but any color works)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  1. Cut a piece of paper into at least 5 evenly-sized strips.
  2. Glue two strips together in the middle, forming a + shape.
  3. Continue to criss-cross the strips while gluing at the center. Try to make them evenly spaced! 
  4. Make a stem out of construction paper or pipe cleaners and adhere to the top.
