Curated Care Camps are a Hit!

Last summer, we talked to families who expressed interest in having summer camps that were flexible, personable, and also took care of child care. The typical summer camps that were offered around NYC sometimes did not fit their schedules or interrupted plans that they had already made months prior. It was also interesting to hear that many families were looking for smaller camps — ones where their children would receive more personalized attention.

That gave us an idea – what if we created camps that were tailored around parents’ schedules: in their homes, with flexible days and the option to invite friends, but just as fun and interesting as a traditional camp. The thought was created and the idea was born; this summer, we were happy to announce that we created Curated Care Camps!

Through our site, parents can choose to book a variety of different and interesting camps like Sports Camp, Cooking Camp, Magic Camp, and even Science & Math Camp! Our Kid Experts travel to the home, bring all the supplies they need, and set up either in the home or local park while babysitting at the same time! All camps are tailored around the child’s interest; parents also have the option of getting a group together of up to 5 kids. A small group allows for the nurturing social setting parents are looking for, while offering a tremendous amount of personalized attention at the same time.

In just under a month, our summer camps have been received incredibly well – our families love the idea of being able to book, pay, and schedule enriching activities online and fairly last minute. For more info about our camps, visit: https://www.curatedcare.com/curated-experiences.

What do our Kid Experts think?

We interviewed Kid Expert Cristina G about her recent Sports Camp with Ethan after mom Julie reached out to say that “Ethan had SO much fun with Cristina this week – he was thrilled to have such a fun day with her!”

Hi, Cristina! When you’re booked for a Curated Care camp session, what is your process in terms of preparation/items you bring?

I like to speak with the parents first and offer a list of suggestions including items that I know I have already. I also ask what the kids are interested in. The parents always have great ideas that they know their children will love! From there, I come up with a schedule of a combination of activities from my ideas and the parent’s suggestions!

What did Ethan think of Sports Camp? He seemed to have a lot of energy and tons of fun outdoors!

Ethan had SO much energy and he and I both had a blast! It was a longer camp day so I made sure to include some activities where he could rest his body a bit after playing outside for so long! His mom let me know ahead of time that he enjoyed crafts so we made some awesome gold medals out of salt dough that he loved. In my camps, I like to include a variety of activities, high energy as well as restful, that are all related to the theme of the camp/day. This gives the day a nice flow and keeps the energy focused!

Have you done camps both in the home and outside/in the neighborhood?

For sports camp, Ethan and I didn’t travel far from home because their apartment complex had all sorts of outdoor space to roam around in! We kept some activities inside during our moments of rest. I’ve also led camps where we don’t spend any time at home. For museum camp, I took Julian (a sweet 5-year-old who loves Jackson Pollock) to the Guggenheim! We spent time reading his favorite art books on the train, snacking while admiring the architecture of the museum from outside, exploring the art inside and finished up by playing in Central Park!

How would you say Curated Care Camps are different from other more traditional camps?

Curated Care camps offer specialized attention and curriculum. Since groups are smaller, sometimes as small as one child, I am able to prepare activities that I know the child or children will enjoy and cater to their interests!
