Experience the Joy of Hanukkah with Kid Expert Lexie B

Lexie recently moved to NYC to pursue her dream of acting, but she has always had a strong and loving connection with children! On the weekends, she substitute teaches at a Jewish day school and is also very experienced in Bar/Bat Mitzvah Prep, Intro to Hebrew, and Shabbat celebrations! That’s why we knew Lexie would be perfect to kick off our holiday season with a Hanukkah Celebration Experience on Curated Care! If your kiddo loves cooking, music, and being silly, read on to learn more about what Lexie has planned for your fam this holiday season!

Hi, Lexie! First, where are you from and what brought you to NYC?

I am from Philly and have been acting my entire life. After working many years in regional theaters, I decided to follow my dreams and move to the big Apple 4 months ago!

How did your family celebrate the holidays growing up?

Oh, my gosh… FOOD. We ate to celebrate. A LOT. I grew up very much a part of Jewish culture so cooking food with my mom and aunt for the holidays was always hilarious and essential. Brisket, chicken, latkes, matzah ball soup… you name it, I can make it! We never celebrated Christmas but I would always go over to a friend’s house and help them decorate their tree! I also always lit the Hanukkah candles with my Dad; it was our thing.

What are your favorite things to do during the holidays in NYC?

My favorite thing ever is to get hot apple cider at the Union Square Holiday Market and walk about and enjoy the decorations 🙂 It’s also my favorite market to pick up miniature holiday pies for my mom who loves strawberry rhubarb! I also adore ice skating! I grew up loving hockey and watching it with my dad, so ice skating was always a source of fun and excitement for me! Hot chocolate too… anytime, any place.

What can families expect from your Curated Care Hanukkah Experience this month?

Oh my, we will have so much fun! I’m talking music and dancing and stories and Latke making! We can even play dreidel if you dare (I’m a bit of an expert spinner if I do say so myself). We may learn some Hanukkah songs on my ukulele and have a  fabulous time eating Latkes, whether you like applesauce or sour cream 🙂 It will be a celebration you won’t want to miss!

Thanks for sharing, Lexie! Just curious… What does being a Kid Expert mean to you?

Kid Experts are exactly that. Experts. They are incredibly empathic and lovely to have around. They are there so you don’t have to worry about anything! Whether your child is interested in the arts or sports, each Kid Expert has been vetted for both their talents and personality. Anyone that shined through the rest will be the one that shows up on your doorstep 🙂
